Igwe Chidubem Iweka, the traditional ruler of Obosi community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra state, has warned the Buhari government to urgently deploy troops to communities under herdsmen siege.
While speaking with newsmen at his Palace in Obosi, he said that the herdsmen, who had already attacked farmers in Adamawa, Benue, Ekiti, Delta, and Taraba states, may stretch their tentacles to other states in Nigeria and continue with their killings.
He described herdsmen invasion of people’s farmland in the name of grazing their cattle as unfortunate.
In his view only the Nigerian Army can prevent further bloodshed by the herdsmen and not the police.
He said “Nobody is against them grazing their cattle but people are against tampering with peoples farm lands. It is as if they place priority on their cattle than people’s lives and land.
“Federal government should send Army to go after the herdsmen and defeat them because they have declared war on innocent citizens and ought to be defeated.”
Recently, a high court ruling by an Abuja High court that the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) is a terrorist group and as such should be proscribed; the Monarch described the court ruling as biased.
“IPOB is not carrying cudgels, axes, knives or exhibiting violence in their operations.
“The judge that gave such ruling should be checked because even the International society knows that IPOB is not violent.” he said.
