Riyad Mahrez has reacted poorly to his dream move to Manchester City collapsing, but the Star believes he could have more options this summer. The Leicester winger handed in a transfer request in the final days of the window in a bid to force a move away from King Power Stadium, though Pep Guardiola’s side would not go above their highest offer of £60 million with the Foxes’ valuation close to £100m.
The report claims that City could end up regretting their unwillingness to match Leicester’s price tag on deadline day as Arsenal are now interested.
Leicester could get near their valuation as a bidding war may break out with Liverpool and Chelsea also in the running this summer for the former PFA Player of the Year.
United close in on Kluivert
Manchester United are in advanced talks to sign Ajax starlet Justin Kluivert, reports the Mirror, a year after the Dutch starlet featured against the Red Devils in the Europa League final.
Son of former Ajax and Barcelona great Patrick Kluivert, Justin has risen through the ranks at with the Dutch club — though unlike his father, he is thriving in a wide role, rather than through the middle.
United could agree a deal worth an initial £10m with various ads-ons that could greatly increase the fee for the Netherlands under-21 international, who has five league goals this term.
United want Vidal
While United may be closing in on one for the future, a serial winner and experienced goalscoring midfielder could be another signing this summer as the Manchester Evening News claim Arturo Vidal is on their shopping list.
The Chilean has just one year remaining on his Bayern Munich deal and could be sold to make way for the incoming Leon Goretzka, who has signed a pre-contract to join on a free once his Schalke deal expires.
International colleague Alexis Sanchez and former Juventus teammate Paul Pogba would help Vidal to settle quickly at Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho is keep to bolster his midfield, with United set to finally address Michael Carrick’s impending retirement — with Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Weigl and Napoli’s Jorginho also options.
Chelsea eye Sarri as Conte successor
Chelsea could move for Maurizio Sarri as the successor to Antonio Conte with the Mirror claiming the champions could trigger the Napoli manager’s £7m buyout clause.
Contact has reportedly already been made with the Italian tactician, known for his sublime, short-passing style of play.
But a report in Corriere dello Sport claims Sarri could extend his deal as early as next Thursday with Aurelio De Laurentiis keen to remove the release clause and secure his manager for the future.
