Just few days after the release of some Boko Haram commanders in exchange for 82 Chibok schoolgirls, the deadly Islamic sect struck again on Saturday deploying three suicide bombers to the University of Maiduguri.
According to report, the incidents happened at the Work department of the University of Maiduguri at about 1am on Saturday morning.Three suicide bombers struck at the mechanical works department of the university killing the suicide bombers who strapped IEDs to their bodies. Two university security personnel on duty were also affected, with one killed by the bombers.
The bodies of the dead have been evacuated by officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Borno State Emergency Management Agency (BOSEMA).
Security agencies are yet to make any comment on the latest attack which happened exactly one week after Boko Haram swapped 82 Chibok schoolgirls with some of its commanders.
However, The university authorities and security agencies are expected to provide more updates on the attack.
The University Public Relations Office, Ahmed Mohammed, said he was yet to ascertain the damage or casualty figure as a result of the incident.
“I was told about the bomb blast, but I am still working on it to ascertain the degree of damage. It is very unfortunate.” Ahmed said.
According to the source, the attacks came when the students of the institution are writing their second semester exams.
