Two goals in the first twenty minutes saw Rivers United secure a much needed 2-1 win over ten man Kampala Capital City Authority, KCCA, in a CAF Confederation Cup match played in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday.

Bernard Ovoke gave the Pride of Rivers the lead, as early as the first minute through a Bolaji Sakin corner kick, before Ovoke turned provider for Frederick Obomate, who wasted no time to double the lead for the home side. Despite KCCA, who were reduced to ten men, after Habib Karuma received his second yellow of the evening, pulling a goal back through Geoffrey Serunkuma, United held on for a win that means the Rivers State sponsored side now have their destiny firmly back in their own hands.

With the win, United have now drawn level with group leaders FUS, on 6 points, albeit having played a game more, with an inferior goal difference.
