Marcel Brands has been confirmed by PSV Eindhoven to exit the club for a new contract with Everton as the Director of football for The Blues from the next season. It has been rumoured severally by The Blues that they will be appointing a new director of football to replace the failing Steve Walsh.
Although walsh has not been placed for a sack following his replacement from the next season, the club is yet to reveal what he will be functioning as in the club.
Brands has piled up some notable achievements in his current club (PSV). He successfully set up the club’s academy with a proper structure, doing justice to bringing in of new key players in the transfer window.
He also has bagged three league titles (Eredivisie title) in four seasons with the club in his 8years reign in the club.
The 52-year-old having been used to the activities of PSV and bringing it up to the level they are at today, has mixed feelings about leaving the club even though he really wants to.
He said: “It’s really hard to let go of something that’s good, but I’m going to do that anyway.
“In my job, too, the Premier League is of course a great thing. It is the biggest competition in the world in all respects.
“I now get the chance to do something in my own way. I am really looking forward to that.”
As the new director of football for Everton, it is highly expected of Brands to work cooperatively with the next to-be appointed manager of the club, having Marco Silva as the topnotch candidate for the position.
