A farmer on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 was sentenced to three years imprisonment by an Upper Area Court in Kasuwan Nama, Jos, for raping an 8-year-old girl.
The convict who was identified as Wunde-Fenan Juna, aged 25, pleaded guilty to the charge of rape.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr. Yahaya Mohammed, convicted Juna upon his plea of guilty to charge, Juna however, was not given an option of fine despite his plea for leniency so as to serve as deterrent to others.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Yakubu Audu, had earlier told the court that the case was reported at Mangu Police Division on Nov. 7, 2017.He said the matter was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Jos, for proper investigation and prosecution.
Audu reported that the convict lured the 8-year-old into the act by giving her N10. He said that the convict took the minor to an uncompleted building and inserted his finger into her private part.
Also, Audu added that the convict later inserted his manhood in an attempt to have carnal knowledge of the minor.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 283 of the Penal Code, Law of Northern Nigeria.
