A Karmo Area Court, Abuja, has sentenced a driver, Nura Mohammed, to four months in Prison for falsely posing as a policeman.

Mohammed was convicted on a charge of impersonation.

The Presiding Magistrate, Abubakar Sadiq, sentenced Mohammed after he pleaded guilty to the charge leveled against him, he however pleaded with the court to tamper justice with mercy.

The magistrate gave the convict an option of N10,000 as fine and warned him to desist of committing crime.

The prosecutor, Dalhatu Zannah, had earlier told the court that Mohammed was arrested and brought to the station on Feb.1 by the Police Crime Prevention Unit led by Asp. David Daru attached to life Camp Police.

He said that on the same date at about 11:30 p.m. a team of police officers raided an area along Daki Biyu village, Mohammed was seen conducting himself in a doubtful manner.

The prosecutor said the convict had introduced himself as a police officer and showed a warrant card with a passport photograph bearing the name of Cpl. Abubakar Suleman with police number 507645.

Zannah revealed that while investigating, it was discovered that the convict had never been recruited into the Nigeria Police Force.

The Prosecutor said the convict refused to tell the court where he got the uniform and the warrant card.
