Security: Governor Wike urges IG of Police to collaborate with states Governors

Wike advised the Police headman not to tackle security issues in a political way. Adding that the Commissioners of Police should cooperate with their respective Governors to achieve the security plans in the country.

In a briefing organized by the Inspector General of the Nigerian Police Force, Alhaji Idris Ibrahim in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital. Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state urged the IG to work in partnership with states Governors to fight insecurity in the country.

Governor Wike reaffirmed that the people of Rivers state would continue to support the Nigerian Police with other Security arms. To enhance the level of security across the country.

Wike also advised the Police headman not to tackle security issues in a political way. Adding that the Commissioners of Police should cooperate with their respective Governors to achieve the security plans in the country.

Chairman of the event and Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Usani Uguru Usani suggested that agitations going on across the nation should be handled in a peaceful approach.

Mr Usani further explained that the program was aimed at improving security in the country and helps the Police understand the challenges concerning security in different Geo-political zones.

The Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Mr Udom Emmanuel also advised the Federal Government. To provide security for the benefit of Commerce and Industry in the country.

Recall that the Governor of Rivers state had allegedly said earlier that the IG of Police is behind the security deficiency in the state;However, Wike emphasized that he does not have any personal problem with the IG.

Wike had accused the IG of posting some disputed Police officers to handle vital security issues in Rivers state.

Others who also attended the meeting include; Cross River state Governor, Prof. Ben Alade; Mr Festus Okowa, Secretary to Delta state Government and Deputy Governor of Bayelsa state, Mr John Jonah.
