BREAKING: Gunmen Invade Port Harcourt Market Kill Ten, Injure Nine

The police command spokesperson in the state said uniform men have been deployed to the community. This is to ensure safety of the residence in that area. He also said the reason behind this operation is yet uncovered. He finally assures the general public that the police will not relent in fighting to bring the perpetrators of the said crime to book.

Gunmen reportedly invaded the slaughter market at Mgboshimiri community in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state. The incident which took place at about 4:00 am claimed 10 lives and leaving more than 15 injured as they were running for their lives.

Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, who is the state police relations officer in rivers state, in conforming the incident told news men that the gunmen upon arrival opened fire on the market women firing rapidly. “Most of the traders where market women” he said.

Following the incident, most of the residences of Mgboshimiri and AGIP community said they are all living in fear. And they don’t know what will happen next. Some people have left their homes and business places as a result of the incident.

Eyewitness’ and some members of the market told Surge that some of the traders slept in the market. So they could wake-up early enough to do early morning trading on Monday before the invasion of the gunmen.
