Iceland, Nigeria’s world cup group D opponent has reportedly confirmed to playing against the Black Stars of Ghana in a friendly match just before the start of the tournament proper that is being hosted in Russia (2018 World Cup).
The match has been scheduled to take place in the Russian city Laugardalsvellir and The country’s (Iceland) FA has announced that the team is to face the West African nation in its final warm-up (to take place on the 7th of June) just before their main opening tournament against Argentina.
However, Iceland will face the Super Eagles of Nigeria on the 22nd of June in Volgograd (Russia) for their second group stage match.
“Our Men’s Team A (Iceland) will play against Ghana at Laugardalsvellir on June 7th,” this statement was extracted from the official website of the Icelandic Federation.
“The game will be the last game of the team in preparation for World Cup 2018 in Russia.”
