Not quite long after the Innoson Motors and Guarantee Trust Bank Saga went down on the internet, there was an unverified news of the federal government of Nigeria placing a ban on the vehicle manufacturing company.
The news caused provocation among the South Eastern people of Nigeria, because they believed that the act of banning Innoson Motors is a sheer act of marginalization on the South Easterners.
This reported reaction from the people of the South-East emanated since the Director and Chief Executive Officer of Innoson Motors, Mr. Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma is from eastern Nigeria.
Recall that media reports in recent times shows that the South Easterners are agitating for a break out of Nigeria.
The Igbos as the South Easterners are sometimes referred to claim to be marginalized in the activities of the country.
As recent as few minutes ago, the rumoured banned vehicle manufacturing company Innoson Motors announced an upgrade in production.
The upgrade would make it possible for the company to move from producing 10,000 vehicles annually to producing 60,000.
“Innoson vehicles introduces robots, upgrade from manual to automated production; set to increase from 10,000 to 60,000 capacity per annum,” as announced on their social media handle.
This shows the company was not shut down as rumoured earlier after all.
