The manager of Togo, Claude Le Roy, says the 3-0 defeat suffered by his team, the Hawks, in Thursday’s friendly against the Super Eagles of Nigeria, was as a result of a lack of ‘maturity and experience.’
A brace from Ahmed Musa, and another by Kelechi Iheanacho, all within the first 30minutes, secured the win for the Super Eagles, as they remain unbeaten under Gernot Rohr.
“We lack the maturity, the experience, but there is talent in this team,†Le Roy said.
“Some like little Nyavedji have never even played a championship game,†he added.
Both sides used the match as part of their plans to fine-tune preparations ahead of the fast approaching African Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifiers. However, for the veteran manager, there are lessons to be taken from the defeat for his young team.
“Despite the defeat, this match will allow them (his players) to gain a little confidence,” the former Cameroun boss concluded.
Le Roy was speaking to the official website of the Togo Football Federation, FTF.
