When planning for a wedding, while considering the kind of dress to wear, you shouldn’t forget to as well include the shoe to wear. But before you run straight for the Manolos you’ve been dreaming of since you saw that SATC movie, you have to note some important factors, like; will they match with your dress? And also, can you wear them all day, without feeling much pains?
Brown’s Accessories Buyer Hollie Harding give some advice on the biggest trends of the season, including four top tips on how to choose the perfect pair.
Try Checking Them Before You Buy
According to her; You might have had a pair of dream heels in mind before you even found your dress. But if they don’t sit right with your gown then the whole look will be off. Harding recommends narrowing your search online. “It’s an easy and efficient way to get a sense of what’s out there,”
Then, “once you’ve identified the styles you’re most excited about, the next step is to go and try them on. Consider how they will look with your wedding dress,” she says. Be sure to measure the heel and take this into account if you’re having a full-length dress adjusted.
Having Them White It’s Not A Must
Even cream, or ivory. Matching your shoes to your dress can look old fashioned, so don’t be afraid of colour. “We have seen brides moving away from traditional white and ivory coloured footwear and be a little more adventurous with styles that reflect their personality,” says Harding.
“Miu Miu gold heels and Tabitha Simmons jeweled mules are stand-out styles that really illustrate this trend right now.”
Get Your Size, Don’t Compromise On Comfort
The most important question you can ask yourself before saying ‘I do’ to your wedding shoes is: can I walk in them? Blisters aren’t chic, after all. “You’ll be on your feet all day so it’s more important than ever that your shoes feel as good as they look,” says Harding.
“I once saw a bride change into a pair of wellies at her reception just because her shoes were so uncomfortable. There are so many styles and options out there so don’t commit to a shoe until you’re completely sure it’s the right option for you,” she adds.
Go For The Kind Of Shoes You Can wear Again
If you’re going to invest in a pair of amazing designer heels why not make them something you can wear again? Harding recommends opting for a versatile pair like Sophia Webster’s pearl sandals: “They’re a wise investment and a perfect wedding-shoe option as they have a chunky lower heel so brides can be comfortable on their big day, but can easily wear them post-wedding whenever they want.”
