A source has disclosed that the North Korea’s female soldiers undergo tough training that always stops their menstruation for a period of one year sometimes.

One of the victims, Lee So Yeon told BBC that apart from the hard training, the training environment is not favorable to health, adding that the worst of it all is facing sexual abuses and harassment by their male commanders.

She revealed that the only means of getting water for bathing and washing is from hoses channeled to mountain streams, where reptiles like snakes and toads are sometimes found in the water.

According to her, a lady stayed for 2-years without experiencing her monthly discharge. She added that sometimes they re-used pads and sleep on mattresses made of rice husks.

Yeon said: “After six months to a year of service, we wouldn’t menstruate anymore because of malnutrition and the stressful environment.”
