An Okada rider has been shot and killed by a policeman with the Anti-Kidnapping, AK, Unit of Ebonyi State Police Command at the popular water works road in Abakilki.
The victim was said to have been killed by the police on Wednesday night over an argument bordering on N50.
It was also reported that the policeman shot the victim under the influence of Alcohol.
The incident has caused serious pandemonium as other Okada riders were seen burning tyres and dumping waste at the middle of the road in protest.
Youths in the area were not relaxed as they were seen setting up road blocks with stones, woods and burning tyres at various corners of the road.
Dr. Kenneth Ugbala, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor David Umahi on Internal Security on arriving the scene of the incident, immediately called officers of the Ebonyi State Fire Service over to quench the burning tyres in order to avoid destruction of properties in the environment.
Dr. Ugbala while speaking at the scene of the incident called on the Okada riders not to take laws into their hands as the police will ensure that the suspect is dealt with according to the law
