The dreaded Boko Haram jihadist on Monday launched an attack on Girl’s Science Secondary School-a Girl’s boarding school in Yobe State.
However, the students and the teachers fled to safety.
A resident, Sheriff Aisami, told Newsmen that around 6 pm a convoy of Fighters in pickup trucks arrived Dapchi village in Bursari area of Yobe State targeting the school.
“When they stormed the village they began shooting and setting off explosives.
“This drew attention of the girls in the Girl’s Science Secondary School, so the girls and the teachers were able to escape before the attackers got into the school,” Aisma said.
Failing to achieve their target of kidnapping the girls, the Boko Haram ransacked the school before fleeing.
A local civilian militia who asked to remain anonymous for safety reasons said: “There was an attack on the girl’s secondary school in Dapchi by Boko Haram.
“Obviously the attack was meant to abduct school girls but luckily they found none of the
girls as they were taken away by teachers before they arrived.
“Military jet were deployed and are in pursuit.”
It is still uncertain whether there were victims during the violence.
