A police corporal, Bala Adamu, on Wednesday killed a sergeant Emmanuel Timothy at a drinking spot in the Madagali area of Adamawa state.
Spokesman of Adamawa police command, Othman Abubakar, confirmed this incident.
According to newsmen, the corporal shot and killed his senior colleague after they had a quarrel.
The sergeant reportedly bought a local gin from a lady said to be Adamu’s girlfriend. Adamu was said to have been jealous that his supposed girlfriend was having a conversation with Timothy.
Adamu, who was completely ignorant of what the conversation was about; reportedly warned Timothy to steer clear of his girlfriend.
In the heat of the quarrel Adamu shot and killed the sergeant with his rifle.
Abubakar said Adamu has been arrested and that the corpse of Timothy had been deposited in the mortuary. He said the incident is being investigated.
