The Police in Lagos state, on Monday have uncovered the shrine of the dreaded Badoo cult group terrorizing residents in Ikorodu area of the state.
The cult group has terrorised residents of Ikorodu and its environs for several months and killed and maimed several residents.
The latest victims were a family of four who were found murdered in their home on Sunday morning in Ikorodu.
A statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole said, the team arrested one Alaka Abayomi, 51, residing in Magodo area of Lagos in connection with the murder.
He said the suspect, with others at large, attacked the family in their one bedroom apartment located in a thick forest at Oke Ota, Ibeshe Ikorodu.
Relying on a tip off, the police stormed the shrine, reportedly located somewhere on the outskirts of Ikorodu
The police team was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Edgal Imohimi, with backing from the Inspector General of Police Special Tactical Squad (STS).
A video of the operation posted online showed that there were figurines and moulded figures in the shrine. There were also a few baskets, broken eggs and all manner of sacrifices and metal gongs.
The Lagos Police spokesperson, Olarinde Famous-Cole, who confirmed the operation stated;
Yes, the one (video) on TVC (Television Continental)… It’s one of our operations (where) we are able to discover one shrine.
his other statement reads:
In addition, the police have made 2 different arrests as surveillance has been heightened where these cult operations are at its peak. As investigation continues, apprehension of known offenders involved in the act is being intensified with visible police crackdown on shrines and criminal hideouts. The command would like to appreciate the public, especially Ikorodu residents and those who have shared useful information with the police to put a final end to the ritual killings in the state.
