In the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo has signed the 2017 budget on Monday, June 12, at the Presidential villa.
The appropriation bill, which was passed by the National Assembly on May 11, was signed yesterday by Yemi Osinbajo, in the attendance of Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, Minister for Budget and National planning, Udoma Udo Udoma and other members of the Federal Executive Council. After two days the Acting President received order from President Buhari to sign the bill, according to report.
According to the Presidency, the N7.44 trillion budget signing was being delayed because the executive wants to ensure the contents in the document is not different from what had been submitted to the legislature.
Report has it that President Buhari issued a statement saying, Osinbajo to sign the budget into law is for the interest of the nation.
