Nigerian comedian Alibaba Akpobome still retains the staff of authority in the comedy industry as the ‘king of comedy’, while many wonders why not Basketmouth or I Go Die. Alibaba is often referred to as the father of comedy even when he seldom appears on stage.
Personally, I’ve been struggling with that until ‘Helen Paul’ the multi-talented Nigerian artist broke the ice at the #HelenPaul360 show. See what Helen said is the reason why Alibaba is at the helm of the affairs of Nigerian comedy:
itshelenpaul ”My baba for life, Ali Baba is recognized as the King of Comedy. One thing that he is critically acclaimed for is that he paved the way for comedians to start getting their dues as performers. He is funny and also intelligent, as his jokes are wisecracks that are usually laced with nuggets and something for everyone to take home.
”Not too long ago, he mesmerized the hearts of everyone when he performed non-stop for 6 hours on stage during a comedy show organized by the renowned Bunmi Davies, called Spontaneity. Ali Baba is a high profile comedian, having performed at big shows and is a delight in the corporate sector where he is great demand by big brands. Thank you so much for the love”
#HelenPaul has led us through into the world of comedy and now we know why comedians should be grateful to Alibaba. Tell #Basketmouth that its not by ‘dada’, Lol!
Hello Basket, calm down, its play we are!
