The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has disclosed that it decided to hold the full ceremonial Passing Out Parade (POP) this year because the security in the nation has improved.
Corps Members of the 2017 Batch ‘A’ stream 1 which passed out of service on Thursday 12, 2018 are the first to have a passing out parade after a long while due to insecurity.
Theresa Ibukun Arokoyo, Niger State Cordinator while speaking at the passing out ceremony of 1,947 corps members in the state said:
”Due to security issues, we had to suspend the passing out parade. While we have strict security during orientation, security could not be guaranteed during the passing out ceremonies, that is why it was suspended.
“However, our country is getting better, security have improved, that is why the NYSC decided to have ceremonial passing out parade for the 2017 Batch ‘A’ Stream One Corps Members.”
Arokoyo also disclosed that the state government had made provision to give the outgoing corps members a farewell package of N3,000 as transport fare.
The Commissioner for Youth Development, Honorable Samaila Ibrahim who represented the state governor, urged the youth to put the skills they have learnt into practice since getting employment in the nation is very difficult.
He further expressed satisfaction with some of the project they did and appreciated the youths for their contributions to the state during their service year.
