Spring/summer 2018’s shows proved that classic cat-eye liner is back at the beauty forefront this season, though taking on a number of new guises. From the bold flashes of colour at Oscar de la Renta to the neat double flicks at Monse. But in order for you to be accurate as to having a classic cat – eye liner, it requires impeccable hands, if not you’d better get practicing.
Check these out and pick your favourite new take on the classic make-up trick below:
The Colourful Cat-Eye
It is not a must to stick to black liner – take inspiration from Tom Pecheux at Oscar de la Renta, who used an inky hue along the lash line before adding a flash of blue, turquoise, lilac or pink through the flick itself. Can you beat that?
feline eyeliner chose a bit of glitter to taking it to the next level (more especially this season, where shimmer is utterly unavoidable). This cues are from Pat McGrath at Tom Ford: Apply black liner in a graphic, extended shape at the outer corner of the eye, before patting with metallic shadow.
The Double Cat-Eye
At Monse’s spring/summer 2018 show, Grace Lee extended the eyeliner into two featherlight flicks for a modern take on the classic look. She aksed; why would you choose to have a cat-eye flick per eye when it s possible you could have two?
Yadim’s smudgy eyeliner at Jason Wu is appealing. Paired with bronzed, dewy skin for a truly laid-back spring look.
The Confident Cat-Eye
Eyeliner at Erdem had a cool confidence thanks to its perfect execution and boldness when set against bare skin and lipstick-free lips. “The look is all about the eyeliner – it’s proper and perfect but edgy,” said make-up artist Val Garland backstage.
