There was a time in the history of Nollywood (Nigeria’s Movie Industry), when people subconsciously cry themselves a river just by seeing movie/movies starring any these actresses:

Chinwe Owoh

Hilda Dokubo and

Nkeiru Sylvanus  ( AKA – Ble-Ble).

The worst happens when two or all of them are starred in one movie, maybe a scene where Nkeiru Sylvanus happens to be the only daughter of Chinwe Owoh – who most times picks a role depicting a very poor and oppressed widow with only the Almighty God as her helper.

You can imagine the stream of tears flowing down the cheek of these women in a scene where the Igwe (King) announces the banishment of any of them in a movie for making the Prince fall in love with their wretched-looking daughter who is not and can never be same class with the Prince, but has caught the attention of the young man with her beauty and responsible behavior so much that the Prince has sworn to marry her or no other.

Imagine also what these women could possibly do with tears in a movie scene where a wicked uncle/husband’s brother such as Chiwetalu Agu collects everything belonging to his brother and his family after his death; accuses them of committing an abominable act which they are obviously not guilty of, but the Igwe on hearing the accusation has decided to send them on exile, considering their sin to be unpardonable.

Also imagine a movie scene with any of these women as a very poor widow with usually two (2) children (a son and a daughter) who becomes victims of oppression by their wicked uncle, who will not stop at collecting everything their father has, but makes sure they and their mother are beaten and locked out of their own house leaving them with nowhere to lay their head.

The list goes on and on especially as I just remembered Nkeiru Sylvanus’ crying scene in a Nollywood movie titled “A Cry For Help”.

What I don’t understand is how they are able to do it: they cry so real with tears flowing endlessly and so contagious that those seeing their movies effortlessly joins the weeping gang.
