For allegedly pouring detergent and water into neighbor’s food, one Mrs. Olufumilayo Adeogun was on Tuesday arraigned before an Oyo State Magistrate’s court sitting in Iyanganku, Ibadan.
The 45-year-old Trader is facing a one count charge of causing a breach of the peace which she pleaded not guilty.
Part of the charge read before the court by the Prosecutor, Mrs. Temitope Dauda reads:
“did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by pouring detergent and water into the ground beans and shoes of another woman identified as Mrs Aminat Popoola.”
While making a statement at the police station the accused claimed that the victim Mrs. Popoola was always fond of evoking trouble and denied pouring detergent into the grounded beans that was brought to the police station.
She said “I don’t know anything about the detergent that she claimed although when I get to the police station this morning I saw substance inside the beans she brought to the station.”
The President of the court, Magistrate A.A Adebisi, in his ruling granted Mrs Adeogun bail in the sum of N50, 000 and one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till April 24, 2018.
The offence contravened Section 249 of the criminal code Cap38 Vol. II Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
