Regarding the unemployment rate in the country, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Suleiman Kazaure, has advised that Corp members should engage themselves on entrepreneurship programs, to enable them become self-employed, after the 1 year compulsory service.
The NYSC boss noted that ‘White collar jobs’ are scarce, considering the population of graduates against the number of firms available in the country.
The Brigadier-General gave the advice during the 2017 Batch ‘B’ Stream II joint orientation course for Plateau, Gombe and Nasarawa states, at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Mangu, Plateau state, on Thursday January 25, 2018.
“I besiege you to key into the Service’s Skills Acquisition Entrepreneurship Development, (SAED) program provided by the scheme so as to build their capacity, create wealth and contribute in building the nation’s economy.
White collar jobs are not available, use the opportunity of the SAED program to learn skills, create jobs and build wealth to improve the country’s economy; more than 300 corps members have benefited from loans to start their businesses as CBN, Heritage bank and Bank of Industry are assisting us to get the start up loans; more than 300 corps members have benefited from loans to start their businesses as CBN, Heritage bank and Bank of Industry are assisting us to get the start up loans,” Kazaure advised.
