Most report making rounds that the turnout of voters in Anambra State is impressive need a second check as such reporters from all indications are not on ground to capture the real outcome of the election processes.
There has been serious disagreement on the turnout of the Anambra gubernatorial election of 18 November 2017, following the mandate giving to Biafran agitators by their highest authority to boycott the election.
Media reports impressive number of turnout of voters giving pictures supposed to be an evidence of such turnout from polling units in Anambra State. Social media users traced to be members and supporters of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have faulted the reports, pointing out the irregularities in the posted pictures.
Mr. Chikodili Igweobi told Surge that the picture posted by one of the renowned media in Nigeria is from all indication a past election picture that took place in Lagos. Speaking on the ‘fraud’ as he described it, Igweobi said, ‘’look at this picture very well you will see LAASMAN uniform and LAASMAN operates only in Lagos State. If you also whatch well you will notice that most ladies on the queue are dressed in Muslims attire. Anambra is not a Muslim state so where are this Voters coming from?”
We received a mail from a personality in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and it reads:
‘’I will not disclose my name for security reasons, but know it that the electoral process in Anambra is messed up by this IPOB people. I am a respectable member of PDP but at this juncture the truth most be told. The people are not there to vote, yet I see report from big media with the caption ‘Anambra election: Impressive turnout of voters’…lies!’’
Another facebook user by name Austin Adaobi, who seems to have observed similar error in report forwarded a message to Surge official account, and it reads.
‘’Most report making rounds that the turnout of voters in Anambra State is impressive need a second check as such reporters from all indications are not on ground to capture the real outcome of the election processes. It is clear that election held in Anambra State today but the turnout of voters remains a discouragement to all who witnessed the process including some international observers.’’
Some other comments by social account users mostly people called and confirm to be present in Anambra during the election shows that almost all polling unit pictures showing more than 80 persons in one polling unit are pictures from 2010 election.
