Jose Mourinho has warned his Manchester United players that Chelsea can still catch them in the race for the Premier League’s top four spots.

The Blues are currently fifth in the league table with just five games left to go in the season and currently they are 11 points behind Mourinho’s United after the weekend’s results.

Having come from behind to beat Southampton on Saturday with a 3-2 victory, that was followed by a 1-0 loss by United to basement boys West Brom the next day.

Any chances of the Blues getting into the Champions League next season is still pretty thin, with Antonio Conte’s side still seven points behind Spurs and ten behind Liverpool, but with a game in hand.

However, Mourinho has claimed that Chelsea are still a threat to United’s hopes of getting into the top four come the end of the season, with Chelsea to play Newcastle United on the final day of the campaign.

“We lost three points that could give us great stability for the second position,” Mourinho told ‘MUTV’ after his side’s defeat to West Brom yesterday.

“We still have the fourth position to fight for because Chelsea won yesterday [Saturday] and we lost. So we still have to fight for the top four.”
