The Nigerian super Eagle forward, Victor Moses, has proven his skills and worth in Chelsea FC and has been recognized by the club by being nominated for Club’s prestigious award ‘Chelsea’s Player of the Year’ title/award for the 2017/2018 season alongside 29 other players. This can be found on the official website of the Club.
He has made a total of 32 appearances in all tournaments and has scored three goals as well as same number of assists for ‘The Blues’ this season.
This is the first of its kind for a Nigerian Player as no player of Nigerian origin has ever won Chelsea’s Player of the year since its inception in 1967, whereas Eden Hazard of Belgium has bagged three of this award in the last four seasons.
The Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi and a number of other Nigerian footballers have gottan some awards from Chelsea but not an award/title as huge as Chelsea’s Player of the year. Mikel Obi won Chelsea’s Young Player of the year sometime in 2007, Dominic Solanke won The Academy Player of the Year in 2015 while Fikayo Tomori won the same title as Dominic in 2016, a year after Dominic.
The winner of this award (Chelsea’s Player of the Year) will be announced on Thursday the 10th of May, 2018 during the Club’s annual end-of-season Awards Ceremony.
It will be a very difficult task for Moses to win this award considering his counterparts and other nominees like N’Golo Kante, Eden Hazrd, Cesar Azpilicueta, Andrea Christensen, Marcos Alonso and Willian all queued up for the same award.
Nonetheless, his fans will really be glad to see him emerge as Chelsea’s player of the year and do wish him the best of luck!
