Delta: Notorious Cult Group Attacks Police Station, Free Inmates

It was a terrible weekend at the Eku community as a dreaded cult group attacked the Eku police station and allegedly vandalised property worth millions of naira before setting the inmates at the station free.

It was gathered that the cultist before attacking the police station, chased the residents of the Eku community with guns, axes, bottles and cutlasses.

According to an eyewitness, the cultist stormed the police station at about 9:30pm dressed in black clothing and red caps and chanting war songs.

They allegedly engaged the policemen on duty in a gun battle before they set the inmates free.

Another eyewitness, who gave his name as John Ogbokowu said:

“the perpetrators of the crime were the same Eiye (Bird) cult, and Vikkings also called Aro-Bagers cult groups that have been disturbing the community since 2016.

“The community had not been willing to do anything to arrest the situation because most of their children are members of the dreaded cult groups”.

The Poilce image maker in the state, DSP Andrew Aniamaka confirmed the incident saying that the cultists vandalised several vehicles.

He disclosed that six of the cultist were apprehended and the matter is being investigated.

Aniamaka urged the residents to go about their normal business as the area is calm again.

He further assured the residents that the police would everything to apprehend those who are responsible for the chaos.

He said: “We are not taking it kindly at all, some of the suspects are currently being detained, and we will get to the root cause of the mayhem.”
