Other make or brands of oats do not taste as good as Quaker Oats brand. Therefore, it is advisable you go for the Quaker Oat.
There are various soup thickeners when it comes to preparing Nigerian soups that requires their use. For instance : Coco-yam,[ofor, achi] sorts of soup thickeners etc. But these thickeners have their alternatives of which Quaker Oats is one of them.
The use of Quaker Oats as an alternative thickener to coco-yam for preparing bitter leaf and uha or ora soup has been tested and has been and it appears nice. The difference is not noticed, it taste just the same.

Blend the Oats using the dry cup of blender, blend until it is in powdered form.
Then, get a pot and boil a little water.
-Bring the pot down and start adding the powdered Oats, and stir with a spatula, as you add you stir, just the way you make yam flour, semolina or wheat flour.
Note : Make sure that the pot is not on the stove as you do this
-Stir very well, until the paste softens like that of coco-yam without it having some seeds.
-Note that Quaker Oats thickens more than coco yam therefore, while adding it to the soup, use lesser quantity.
-Cook the way, you use coco-yam to cook, it appears just the same.
