Scent leaf is used in cooking the popular ’ofe akwu’, where palm fruits are used also. It is sauce  for yam, plantain or rice. it is very good and can be used ti replace stew. Many People tend to go for ‘ofe akwu’.

Scent leaf [nchu-anwu] is one of the natural things around us that have various uses good for health. Nature has given us so many natural things to enjoy. It is left for us to make the discovery so as to be able to identify it and make adequate use of it.

Igbo’s call it [nchu-anwu],  Yoruba’s call it ”efirirn”, while Hausa’s call it ”daidoya”.  It is medicinal and have various uses good for health. Some of the uses are;

As the Igbo name implies, nchuanwu; it drive away mosquitoes;’ nchu’’ in igbo means ‘’drive’’, while ‘’anwu’’ is the short form of ‘’anwunta ‘’meaning ‘’mosquito’’. Cut some of the leaves and place them in the room at night before sleeping, I bet you, you can never hear the sound of mosquitoes till the dawn of the day.  After carrying out this, you can wholeheartedly say bye to mosquitoes and wouldn’t want to go for insecticides anymore.
